What are the key features of the Ajax AJ-OUTDOORPROTECT-W Dual Motion Detector?
MotionProtect Outdoor is a wireless motion detector with anti-masking and false alarm protection. It connects to the Ajax security system via the Jeweller protocol, with a communication range of up to 1700 metres with no obstacles. The detector can run for up to 5 years on the pre-installed battery or on external power. The device detects motion at distances of under 15 m and ignores pets.
The detector is configured through a mobile app for iOS and Android smartphones. The user is notified of all MotionProtect Outdoor events via push notifications, SMS messages and calls (if enabled).
The Ajax security system can be used to monitor the site independently and can be connected to the security company's alarm receiving centre (ARC).
How does the AJ-OUTDOORPROTECT-W work?
The MotionProtect Outdoor sensors detect intrusions into the protected area, and the detector can ignore animals, birds and insects, as well as swaying plants and slow-growing trees.
When the system is armed, the detector continuously receives the signal from two passive infrared (PIR) sensors. If motion is detected, MotionProtect Outdoor immediately transmits the alarm signal to the hub and signals it with a flash of the green LED. The alarm is only sent to the hub when both of the detector's thermal sensors receive identical motion signals.
Ajax anti-masking system.
Masking is any attempt to block the detector lens's view with an object.
MotionProtect Outdoor detects the following types of masking:
An obstacle in front of both lenses (an object of dimensions comparable to the height of the detector housing placed up to 20 cm in front of the detector)
- An obstacle in front of either lens (an object placed up to 10 cm in front of one of the lenses)
- Painting or covering either lens with an opaque material
- Sticking any opaque material to the front of the detector
- Applying spray or brush-on varnish/paint to the front of MotionProtect Outdoor
If one or more types of masking are detected, the detector generates the masking signal and lights the detector's green LED for 1 second.
The detector detects masking in both passive and active mode.
