Grade 2 (European standard EN 50131) and NFA2P certification
What Grade 2 under EN 50131 and the French NFA2P mark mean, and why they matter if you want an alarm that resists experienced burglars and is accepted by your insurer.
NFA2P is a demanding French quality mark for electronic security equipment. Grade 2 means the system resists experienced burglars, and it is the mandatory standard in the European Union for protecting homes and small businesses, whether or not they are connected to an alarm receiving centre.
What does each concept mean?
Grade 2 (European standard EN 50131). Classifies the level of risk and how well the alarm resists intruders with medium to high knowledge and basic tools. It is the legal minimum in Spain for connecting an alarm system to a monitoring centre.
NFA2P certification (France). A joint certification mark issued by AFNOR Certification and CNPP. Although it does not carry the same legal weight as the European standard, it is the strictest mark in France and highly valued by European insurers.
What does having both marks guarantee?
- Tamper protection: devices include tamper systems that detect if they are pulled off the wall or manipulated.
- Resistance to jammers: anti-jamming technology and constantly supervised wireless or wired communication.
- Build quality: materials have passed environmental and electrical stress tests that guarantee durability and correct operation.
- Recommended use: ideal for protecting high-value property, both residential and commercial, and for meeting the requirements of the strictest insurance policies.
